Italy - HOI4 - Danzig or War?

06 Apr 1939 - Let us stroll around Europe and survey the mood at the brink of war. The Soviets have a very bad opinion of Germany. That is good news.
My wars did that.
The same in France.
That is very good news. Poland needs all the friends it can get.
To be expected.
07 April and the insatiable Adolf Hitler is grabbing more territory.
20 Apr 1939 and Radio Detection has been researched.
I now select Advanced Machine Tools. I must keep my industry as modern as possible.
I'm satisfied with the situation.
09 May 1939 and Computing Machine research is completed.
I can now research Decryption-Frequency Analysis. It sounds interesting,
14 Jun 1939 - Decision day for Poland and they quite rightly presumed that Germany would want more than Danzig alone. Germany now has a justification to attack Poland (game rules).
Meanwhile at home my next focus will be Carrier Effort. A low priority for the Navy but I need the technology.
15 Jun 1939 and Germany declares war on Poland. I can imagine there are mixed emotions in London and Paris because if Poland had ceded Danzig the West would receive Germany's full attention.
Germany is attacking on a broad front.
17 Jun 1939 and the Wehrmacht has not advanced. Fighting spreads to East Prussia.
18 Jun 1939 and nobody is helping Poland!!! Well that is a surprise.
I have to adjust my oil imports. Romania can't deliver.
So I increase my imports from the US.
20 June and the Wehrmacht is making progress in the south while the Poles are advancing towards Königsberg!
22 June brings more German advances in the south with a possible breakthrough. Can the Wehrmacht exploit it?
23 Jun 1939 and research project Concentrated Industry III is completed.
Time to build some 1940s battleships.
It appears that Krakow in the south has fallen while the German middle nears Warsaw.
24 June and Polish successes in the north, Warsaw is more in danger of being taken while Krakow is still in Polish hands.
27 June and the Wehrmacht is at the gates of Warsaw with continued German advances in the south.
28 June and Warsaw falls. The Poles really had no chance alone against Germany.
Why didn't they join Allies? Did they ask but Britain refused? The history books will tell us but one thing is certain though. It is a huge black stain on western democracies. The war goes on but when Poland capitulates peace will to return to Europe. Who will be next?
Why didn't Italy help? Italy is now a democracy and it can't even give Lend Lease until World Tension is 50% and it can't justify a war goal until 100%. Italy's hands are tied.

28 Jan 1941: Just over one week after we responded to the brutal Soviet assault on Finland we have made considerable gains despite the many handicaps which have confronted us. I start recruiting 10 more assault divisions. I like those figures but look at the contribution of the Allies - ZERO!!! 31 Aug 1941. Our forces have captured Kiev, the Ukrainian capital. Germany - HOI4 - Opposing Hitler

14 Sep 1937: The smoke has cleared and I update my Production. I have 57 MFs now but only 4 are being used on the Luftwaffe. Most of my aircraft designs are outdated though so I don't want to waste too much resources on that junk. My Heer (Army) is also short on everything.... That means I can take a shortcut back to the Heimat (home). 22 Sep 1937: The Oppose Hitler focus is completed.... ….no further comment required. That means Nazis versus the German Military Junta (me). We are at war again. I select the focus Reichsautobahn . The good news is that we vastly outnumber the Nazi forces. Unfortunately my forces are all over Europe and forming a frontline will take time which means I shall lose territory for a while. 23 Sep 1937: Reichsautobahn has been cancelled because I don't own some of the territory required.
