Italy - HOI4 - Sitzkrieg in Romania

01 Aug 1939: To be honest I am still a little confused. Hitler managed to conquer Poland and pulled off a wonder but attacking Romania has made life difficult putting it mildly. The UK is guaranteeing the independence of Romania and now Germany is at war with the Allies. Stupido!
Germany has three sources from where it can import oil. Romania, the Soviets and overseas. The first has gone, the Russians aren't too fond of Adolf and now its oil tankers have to get past the Royal Navy. That will hurt Germany's production and unless he achieves a quick victory in Romania he will be in big trouble.
Secondly, with all the extra Polish MFs and CFs Germany could have greatly accelerated their rearmament without having to fight a war at the same time. Now I am really glad I got out of that circus.
Italy and Romania aren't the best of friends either but I couldn't help him if I wanted to. World Tension is only at 41%.
The British Empire is fighting alone. Why didn't they help Poland?
Another armoured division is assigned to Army Mobile. That makes 10 + 1 airborne divisions in the Army.
My artillery shortage has reduced so much that I can transfer MFs to aircraft production.
Five to the Bf109Ds and 1 to transports.
02 Aug 1939 and Romania has joined the Allies. It's formal now.
Despite the -50 unlike I can still gain access to German territory and conclude a non-aggression pact.
Day 3 of the offensive and the Germans haven't gained any territory. Think also of the huge airpower that Britain has. That must be causing problems too. Note also that Germany is a one nation faction. They are alone.
 06 Aug 1939 - Day 6 and still no gains.
09 August and there is finally a small advance.
10 August and there are three naval battles ongoing - the symbols with two 10s.
Day 10 and no further breakthrough.
13 August = Day 13 and they are still bogged down. I bet Hitler is ranting and raging. This is Sitzkrieg not Blitzkrieg.
I have now accumulated 250 PPs, enough to hire General Messe as an expert.
Day 15 and guess what. We can hear Hitler in Rome.
16 August and nothing new to report.
The same on Day 19. To put this in relation Warsaw was captured within a couple of weeks. I wonder how many generals have been fired.
 Now it is Day 21 - the Bohemian Corporal is back.
Day 23 (Aug 1939) and my focus Carrier Effort has completed. No further advance into Romania.
I select Naval Air Effort next. My old SM.79s are junk - time to upgrade them.
My Garrison Divisions are now called Divisione Costiera (Coastal Divisions) and I decide to add an Engineer Company to their template.
The British have access to Turkey and I can have it too if I wish but I don't need it.
Maybe this will help Romania and get me some brownie points in London. Let's offer the UK military access to Republican Italy.
They did accept it so they don't have to take the scenic route through the Bosphorus now.
That really does not concern me although the British may have an uprising on their hands soon.
27 Aug 1939: Hitler is planning to invade Denmark and Norway??? Totally crazy!!!
I decide to move my 80th Parachute Division to the tip of Carpathia so that I can receive better intelligence information.
The armoured divisions are being assigned to the Romanian border.
 01 Sep 1939: (Day 32) and they have arrived.
I've cancelled the 'Front' order because I only want them there to observe any UK units in the area. In fact there is one south of Hungary. Until next time, folks....

Welcome to a new game as Italy. Unlike Australia, Italy is already at war with Abyssinia, it is a fascist nation and has much larger armed forces. However, Mussolini came to power a dozen years before Hitler and his large military is equipped with WW1 equipment, he has only one good general who can't be everywhere at the same time and Mussolini is an idiot. Germany - HOI4 - Looking Eastwards

18 Nov 1936: Research on Concentrated Industry II has completed. I choose to research the SP-AT Marder II which will make something useful out of my useless Pz. Is and Pz. IIs. 05 Dec 1936: The doctrine Delay is selected. The +15% organization is very useful. I also spend 150 PPs on Henschel tank designers with emphasis on speed and reliability 08 Dec 1936: I upgrade 8 more infantry divisions. 16 Dec 1936: The focus KdF-Wagen is completed. I choose Treaty with the USSR next - a joint tank design venture. I also deploy another 8 infantry divisions. 19 Dec 1936: AT-gun development has been completed. Time to develop a Fallschirmjäger force. 27 Dec 1936: Two fully trained motorized infantry divisions are assigned to Guderian's new Panzerarmee. Italy - HOI4 - Danzig or War?

06 Apr 1939 - Let us stroll around Europe and survey the mood at the brink of war. The Soviets have a very bad opinion of Germany. That is good news. My wars did that. The same in France. That is very good news. Poland needs all the friends it can get. To be expected. 07 April and the insatiable Adolf Hitler is grabbing more territory. 20 Apr 1939 and Radio Detection has been researched. I now select Advanced Machine Tools . I must keep my industry as modern as possible. I'm satisfied with the situation. 09 May 1939 and Computing Machine research is completed. I can now research Decryption-Frequency Analysis . It sounds interesting, 14 Jun 1939 - Decision day for Poland and they quite rightly presumed that Germany would want more than Danzig alone. Germany now has a justification to attack Poland (game rules). Meanwhile at home my next focus will be Carrier Effort .
