Italy - HOI4 - War Against the Soviets (II)
23 May 1942: The battles have been keeping me so busy that I have neglected my Trade. I need more steel from Sweden...
...no more rubber from the Dutch East Indies...
...and less oil from the US.
25 May 1942 I choose the focus Libyan Infrastructure next.
Another Spanish submarine is sunk.
Advanced Oil Processing has completed so I research Construction IV next.
I can now reduce my oil imports from Venezuela to zero.
27 May 1942 and I order my Army Mobile forward to the Rhone valley.
31 May 1942: Moscow has fallen and Leningrad is the new capital. Let's march there.
03 Jun 1942 and the Soviets are 69% towards capitulation and have lost almost half a million troops. Finland is about to capitulate - not good because the Soviets can use the freed up to troops to make our life difficult further south. A swift conclusion to this Russian campaign would be desirable.
Also more convoy raids in the western Med.
Now that the battles in the Ukraine are over I'm assigning the six divisions from Army Yugoslavia to Balbo's Army Riviera in the north.
They have a long march ahead of them but they will definitely be useful when they finally arrive.
05 Jun 1972 and the Soviets have lost another light cruiser in the Black Sea.
09 Jun 1942: Some of my divisions have been encircled for advancing too far too fast. A relief column is organized.
14 Jun 1942: Leningrad is captured and Mountain Infantry II has been researched
I select Special Forces next.
More convoy battles in the Mediterranean. Spain is a real pain in the proverbial. Mainly for the Germans though.
The Finns are about to capitulate and we still need to capture more Soviet cities.
I start a new thrust towards Kalinin - 10 Victory points.
16 Jun 1942: I see two more cities NW and NNE of Moscow - off we go!
17 Jun 1942: Finland has capitulated - sad but we shall liberate them soon. Now we have to keep the Soviet divisions in Finland busy so that they can't march south.
24 Jun 1942: Mutinies in the Army!!! Appealing to their good nature sounds a bit tame to me. I choose to surround the mutinous troops and order them to stand down. It costs me 150 PPs but the spook will be over.
27 Jun 1942 and Formation Flying is researched.
One Soviet light cruiser has been sunk...
...then another. Both in the Black Sea. Which base are they using???
I research Improved Artillery Upgrade II next.
Yet more convoy battles in the Mediterranean. Hopefully I can soon transfer more air power to that theatre.
09 Jul 1942 I start a new offensive to draw Soviet forces away from Leningrad.
Moscow and Leningrad have fallen in this post but we have lost the brave Finns as an active ally. More news from the front soon!
