Germany - HOI4 - Polish Campaign (II)

16 Nov 1940: I organize a large airborne assault to force a passage northwards from Lithuania. 1st, 2nd and 3rd Fallschirmjäger Divisions are being utilized. Their target is the region north of the Latvian capital Riga.
18 Nov 1940: I coordinate the attack with armoured divisions from General von Küchler's Armee Ost.
21 Nov 1940: We receive the news that Warsaw has been captured.
North of Riga the Fallschirmjäger have landed successfully and are now attacking the Latvian capital.
23 Nov 1940: Riga has fallen and roughly a dozen divisions are storming north through the gap. 
26 Nov 1940: The Decryption technology has been researched.
I select Encryption - Cyclic Permutations next.
02 Dec 1940: Less than a week later my Panzers have captured Tallinn and Estonia capitulates.
A large amount of equipment has been captured for such a small country.
But Latvia and Poland continue to resist.
05 Dec 1940: The war is almost over but there is a very confused frontline.
07 Dec 1940: In the Far East Communist China has capitulated - a complete victory for Japan. Meanwhile Lvov in southeast Poland is the new capital and I have to channel more forces there now.
08 Dec 1940: 1st Army is now supporting Armee Süd.
09 Dec 1940: Another 13 days is too long so I'll commit more forces.
11 Dec 1940: Armee Magyar, a Hungarian Expeditionary Force is sent to assist. Also Improved Infantry Equipment I has been researched.
I choose to research Special Forces next.
On 15 Dec 1940 Poland capitulates.
I capture a lot of equipment and have accumulated 928 Victory Points.
I grab the Baltic States so that my 'allies' can't 'liberate' them then I concentrate on border areas.
I manage to prevent Hungary or Yugoslavia taking any territory - relatively easy because they have no claims to Polish territory. All four countries are annexed and I capture more than 150,000 pieces of equipment.
I assign a fourth army to Army Group 1 then order it to the border with Russia.
16 Dec 1940: And off they go!
18 Dec 1940. I send von Küchler's army to the French border along the Rhine.
19 Dec 1940: Now it is time for a break.
Since France is heading politically to the right I shouldn't need to worry about them too much but it is wise to have forces in the area just in case. I now have to build up my Luftwaffe for the inevitable conflict with the Soviet Union. I have new aircraft models available and the Panzer V can be produced for my armoured divisions. Bis bald.

Welcome to a new game as Italy. Unlike Australia, Italy is already at war with Abyssinia, it is a fascist nation and has much larger armed forces. However, Mussolini came to power a dozen years before Hitler and his large military is equipped with WW1 equipment, he has only one good general who can't be everywhere at the same time and Mussolini is an idiot. Not the best pre-requisites to build a global empire. But we have to make do with what we have....so here is Italy at the start. I create an Alpine army and give them a fairly good commander then...  ...order them to a port. They are going to Abyssinia. I grab the rest of the army...  ...assign a lousy commander then...  ...order them to the Austrian border to remind Hitler that we also have plans for the alpine nation. Germany - HOI4 - Looking Eastwards

18 Nov 1936: Research on Concentrated Industry II has completed. I choose to research the SP-AT Marder II which will make something useful out of my useless Pz. Is and Pz. IIs. 05 Dec 1936: The doctrine Delay is selected. The +15% organization is very useful. I also spend 150 PPs on Henschel tank designers with emphasis on speed and reliability 08 Dec 1936: I upgrade 8 more infantry divisions. 16 Dec 1936: The focus KdF-Wagen is completed. I choose Treaty with the USSR next - a joint tank design venture. I also deploy another 8 infantry divisions. 19 Dec 1936: AT-gun development has been completed. Time to develop a Fallschirmjäger force. 27 Dec 1936: Two fully trained motorized infantry divisions are assigned to Guderian's new Panzerarmee. I say new because the forces used against Austria were barely a Corps-sized unit and in need of reform. A couple of days later the SP-AT Marder II becomes available. Italy - HOI4 - Danzig or War?

06 Apr 1939 - Let us stroll around Europe and survey the mood at the brink of war. The Soviets have a very bad opinion of Germany. That is good news. My wars did that. The same in France. That is very good news. Poland needs all the friends it can get. To be expected. 07 April and the insatiable Adolf Hitler is grabbing more territory. 20 Apr 1939 and Radio Detection has been researched. I now select Advanced Machine Tools . I must keep my industry as modern as possible. I'm satisfied with the situation. 09 May 1939 and Computing Machine research is completed. I can now research Decryption-Frequency Analysis . It sounds interesting, 14 Jun 1939 - Decision day for Poland and they quite rightly presumed that Germany would want more than Danzig alone. Germany now has a justification to attack Poland (game rules). Meanwhile at home my next focus will be Carrier Effort .
