Ottoman - HOI4 - Post-Conflict Action Report
12 Jan 1913: To be honest at the outset of the war I wasn't expecting total victory instead some kind of White Peace with me gaining some territory. While the current situation is a boost for the Empire it has effectively put an end to offensive operations. There is nothing which I can conquer which is also worth conquering. I have a large under-developed nation with a mediocre armed forces. Yes they were superior to those of my Balkan neighbours but they would be useless against the armies of the major powers.
I was obviously the only Balkan nation which consistently improved the size and quality of infantry divisions, the main workhorse of this period. I did this at the expense of the navy and air force. In two years they have evolved from 2 or 3 infantry battalions to 4 or 6 battalions plus engineer support and in many cases have a battalion of field artillery. All 3 of my air wings were assigned to direct close-support of my two main armies on the battlefield. These measures paid off.
What next? First I have limited manpower and can't expand my military much more. Also World Tension is much too low to allow me to change conscription laws so I should concentrate on improving the fighting power of the divisions. The major powers are heading towards a huge conflict and I am hoping that I can stay out of it until it is clear who will prevail. I'm not even sure how it will begin because Serbia no longer exists so even if a Serbian extremist assassinates the Austro-Hungarian Crown-Prince what will happen? Why attack the Ottoman Empire? I shall be building defences along that border just in case. If I join the Central powers I could probably conquer French and British possessions in the Middle East but I would have Russians attacking from the Caucasus and if I were to conquer a piece of that Russia the Brest-Litovsk treaty would leave me empty-handed. I could take sides in the Russian Civil War but still end up with nothing material.
If I were to join the Entente I have almighty Austria-Hungary breathing down my neck on the Balkan border and my fate would be in the hands of the British and French. At the moment the future is too murky to make a decision so I'm not making one. My strategy therefore is Turkey First but also Live and Let Live.
