Prussia - HOI4 - Empire Building

21 Oct 1918: There are some serious shortages here. Field Artillery requires 437 days to fill all requirements and that without equipping new formations. Mind boggling.
Support Equipment requires 299 days but....
….some good news. Motorized is only 57 days short. I need a Plan B for procurement.
Basra is an important base so the Port will be expanded to level 6;
and I'll add a level 5 Coastal Fort;
….then we shall construct two level 3 Airfields.
I move the projects to the top of the list together with other facilities in need of repairs.
I also plan the construction of 12 MFs in western Russia.
There are 15 divisions which I can deploy early here.
A larger empire requires more troops and I didn't have enough before the latest campaign. I'm also building the wrong kind of division to fill this requirement.
Let's finish deploying the troops first....
….and place them in training.
These 5 trained divisions can go to 10th Army in Munich.
I've already mentioned that soon or later I shall be kicking Austria-Hungary out of the Central Powers and I have almost 40 A-H divisions in my armies. Most of them are in the African and Pacific theatres. They need to be replaced.
23 Oct 1918: I add two infantry battalions and an artillery support company to the Ersatz-Division template and call it a Kolonie-Division. (I need a new name for them.)
I shall construct 20 in the Provence for Africa and 20 more in Vladivostok for Armee APAC.
It does look a bit empty in the Far East but apart from the port of Vladivostok there is nothing there worth defending.
Back in the Baltic I combine these two fleets.
I intend sending it to the Arabian Gulf.
Checking the Diplomacy screen we do have friends in Europe plus Egypt in Africa.
No enemies in Asia and the Middle East. That is nice to know. It doesn't include nations in the British Empire though.

Welcome to a new game as Italy. Unlike Australia, Italy is already at war with Abyssinia, it is a fascist nation and has much larger armed forces. However, Mussolini came to power a dozen years before Hitler and his large military is equipped with WW1 equipment, he has only one good general who can't be everywhere at the same time and Mussolini is an idiot. Not the best pre-requisites to build a global empire. But we have to make do with what we have....so here is Italy at the start. I create an Alpine army and give them a fairly good commander then...  ...order them to a port. They are going to Abyssinia. Germany - HOI4 - Looking Eastwards

18 Nov 1936: Research on Concentrated Industry II has completed. I choose to research the SP-AT Marder II which will make something useful out of my useless Pz. Is and Pz. IIs. 05 Dec 1936: The doctrine Delay is selected. The +15% organization is very useful. I also spend 150 PPs on Henschel tank designers with emphasis on speed and reliability 08 Dec 1936: I upgrade 8 more infantry divisions. 16 Dec 1936: The focus KdF-Wagen is completed. I choose Treaty with the USSR next - a joint tank design venture. I also deploy another 8 infantry divisions. 19 Dec 1936: AT-gun development has been completed. Time to develop a Fallschirmjäger force. 27 Dec 1936: Two fully trained motorized infantry divisions are assigned to Guderian's new Panzerarmee. I say new because the forces used against Austria were barely a Corps-sized unit and in need of reform. A couple of days later the SP-AT Marder II becomes available. Italy - HOI4 - Danzig or War?

06 Apr 1939 - Let us stroll around Europe and survey the mood at the brink of war. The Soviets have a very bad opinion of Germany. That is good news. My wars did that. The same in France. That is very good news. Poland needs all the friends it can get. To be expected. 07 April and the insatiable Adolf Hitler is grabbing more territory. 20 Apr 1939 and Radio Detection has been researched. I now select Advanced Machine Tools . I must keep my industry as modern as possible. I'm satisfied with the situation. 09 May 1939 and Computing Machine research is completed. I can now research Decryption-Frequency Analysis . It sounds interesting, 14 Jun 1939 - Decision day for Poland and they quite rightly presumed that Germany would want more than Danzig alone. Germany now has a justification to attack Poland (game rules). Meanwhile at home my next focus will be Carrier Effort .
