Italy - HOI4 - Albania and India

07 May 1940 - I need to do some more anti-fascist raids to boost democracy.

The PPI are slowly gaining support.

29 May 1940 - still not much happening in Romania but the 2nd Caio Duilio battleship has been commissioned.

I adjust my naval production - more to battleships, destroyers and a convoy boost.

30 May 1940 - it was a question of "when" not "if".

Also my focus Albanian Occupation is completed.

I decide to request a licence to produce Fw 190 aircraft.

31 May 1940 and I hear that Albania has yielded. Great news.

Free India joins the Axis!!! Not good news.

I can licence produce the Fw 190 - good news. It has cost me quite a few CFs but it is one of the best aircraft available.

Yep, I need to construct more CFs.

I need to increase the productivity of my oil refineries. Researching Improved Oil Processing will do precisely that.

My new aircraft production is very fighter heavy - air superiority is important - no vital.

6 more Divisione Costieras have completed training.

They are assigned to Army Italia and the area garrisoned is increased accordingly.

Here one can see the 36 gun AT-battalion and the Engineer Company (30 Support Equipment).

My next focus is Escort Effort. Italy needs better destroyers....

I add Albania to General De Bono's mission.

I need to import more oil. This time from Australia.

01 Jun 1940 and the annexation of Albania is formally announced. The Imperium is growing.

I plan the construction of 8 more CFs and note that a Synthetic Refinery will be ready in 11 days.

My research overview and I see no movement in Romania. I thought the India crisis would cause the British to move forces from Romania to the sub-continent.

19 Jun 1940: Decimetric Radar research has been completed.

I select Improved Artillery Upgrade I as my new research project.

23 Jun 1940: There is a change in northern Romania. Maybe India really is a game-changer. The UK cannot afford to lose it.

More projects are concluding - here we receive a new battlecruiser.

I choose to research Improved Decimetric Radar.

Grand Assault is also useful with +10% breakthrough.

Finally I can reduce my steel import from Germany to zero.

Gaining Albania without a fight is a real relief. If they had refused they would probably have joined the Allies. Ouch! Note that World Tension is now at 100% so I can justify war goals but against who? Greek independence is still guaranteed by Romania (Allies) but Spain is an interesting thought.
They are communist so the Allies won't protect them.
