Italy - HOI4 - Capitulation, Reorganization and Confusion
28 Jun 1939 and the war goes on with the Poles still holding ground in the north. We may see a change in German emphasis now. To force Poland to capitulate they need both Danzig as well as Lvov in the southeast.
01 Jul 1939 and the Wehrmacht appears to be aiming for Danzig first. It will relieve pressure on East Prussia too.
03 July and there are German advances in the north and south. No movement in the centre.
04 July and Synthetic Oil Experiments has completed. Italy needs oil!
So my next step is obvious - Oil Processing.
07 Jul 1939 brings more advances. Note how the changing borders is confusing the front lines of my two armies. I'll have to fix that but it can wait.
09 July sees the Germans advancing in the south while the Polish Army has taken more East Prussian territory!
12 July and the Wehrmacht is bearing down on Lvov.
14 July and Danzig falls. Lvov is now the new capital. Victory or defeat will be determined there.
16 July and the Poles are still stubbornly resisting superior German forces.
18 July and the Polish Army is still holding out. You have to admire these guys!
20 July still holding but the end is near.
21 Jul 1939: The German-Polish war is over. Poland has been completely annexed and is now part of the German Reich. A lot of equipment has been captured but how much of it is modern.
Germany is now huge and is befriending Japan. Joe Stalin is between the two of them!
Back home from the front I need to make a few changes. I duplicate the template of the Colonial Division.
I name it Garrison Division and change the symbol to a pawn. I'll find the Italian name later.
I put their deployment base in Rome.
That's in Latium then I start recruiting 6 divisions per batch. Italy is ungarrisoned at the moment and its long coastline makes it very vulnerable to amphibious assault. My intention is to garrison each port and eventually fortify them.
I have many trained divisions waiting. I put my parachute division in the Army Mobile along with two armoured divisions.
The seven infantry divisions go to Army Czech.
I then deploy the remaining infantry divisions being recruited - they go to Army Training.
I now delete the front orders for Army Czech.
Then order it to assemble around Vienna.
My armoured divisions need to be all in one place so I choose Venice - it is also a port. Reorganization done!
01 Aug 1939: Has Hitler gone totally crazy? Romania is already going Fascist. I need some Grappa!
Ciao!
