Italy - HOI4 - Spring Cleaning

12 Feb 1938: As you can see the Communists in France are gaining but the Parti Radical still has a slight majority and elections are more than two years away. Also the Germans have massed troops on their border with France AND my border with France. They have also plotted attack plans. Sabre rattling in my opinion because the combat divisions haven't arrived yet - just the headquarters.
Tension is rising in the Far East.
22 Feb 1938: Clearer to see that there are no German divisions in Piedmont. I'm upgrading these fortress divisions to full infantry divisions.
More equipment needs to be procured.
I'm also forming a couple of Air Wings from reserve stocks.
First close air support then fighters.
Finished.
10 Mar 1938 and the useless L6 tank has arrived. I won't produce it though.
My air force needs some more training so I choose Formation Flying.
A week later Grand Battle Plan has been research.
I continue down that path and select Prepared Defence.
A jump to 19 April and we can now produce Paratroopers. We have no transport aircraft at the moment though.
Let's design a better Destroyer - the Soldati Class.
The Pax Americana is a brownie point for FDR.
Our National Focus Modernized Army has completed.
As planned I continue to upgrade my army's capabilities by selecting Special Forces.
Germany has chosen Second Vienna Award. That will take Transylvania from Romania and give it to Hungary. The next focus Alliance with Italy is not what I am hoping for.
The French are still defensive...
...while the Poles are strengthening their German border defences.
The Soviets are also beefing up their army's capabilities. I don't intend attacking them anyway. That is Adolf's problem.
The UK is now bolstering its Fortress Malta.
I noticed movement on the maps and it is a lot of German troops heading to the Polish border.
Since the L6 tank arrived I have had an alert that I am still producing an obsolete item - the L3. On the Armoured Division template I replace the Light Tank with Light Tank Destroyer.
Then I delete the L3 production line.
30 Apr 1938 and I need to import more oil from the British.
It is May Day so I am taking a break. Until next time.

28 Jan 1941: Just over one week after we responded to the brutal Soviet assault on Finland we have made considerable gains despite the many handicaps which have confronted us. Italy - HOI4 - Danzig or War?

06 Apr 1939 - Let us stroll around Europe and survey the mood at the brink of war. The Soviets have a very bad opinion of Germany. That is good news. My wars did that. The same in France. That is very good news. Poland needs all the friends it can get. To be expected. 07 April and the insatiable Adolf Hitler is grabbing more territory. 20 Apr 1939 and Radio Detection has been researched. I now select Advanced Machine Tools . I must keep my industry as modern as possible. I'm satisfied with the situation. 09 May 1939 and Computing Machine research is completed. I can now research Decryption-Frequency Analysis . It sounds interesting, 14 Jun 1939 - Decision day for Poland and they quite rightly presumed that Germany would want more than Danzig alone. Germany now has a justification to attack Poland (game rules). Meanwhile at home my next focus will be Carrier Effort . Prussia - HOI4 - Drang Nach Osten (I)

06 Feb 1917: The Soviets call Georgia into the conflict.... ….and Mongolia too. 11 Feb 1917: Deep penetrations on the Northern Front. 12 Feb 1917: I divert a few divisions from 6th Army south then east to support the southern flank. 14 Feb 1917: The first naval battle ends in a German victory. 19 Feb 1917: I order a couple of divisions to advance on the Soviet capital Petrograd. Two weeks into the campaign and the road to Moscow appears to be free of defenders. Oh, we have lost air superiority over Eastern Germany. 23 Feb 1917: I deploy 6 air wings from my reserves to remedy the situation, 26 Feb 1917: We are at the gates of both Petrograd and Moscow. 27 Feb 1917: I add more MFs to Infantry Equipment and Fokker CAS aircraft. We have captured Novgorod so I send 4 more divisions from 5th Army to Petrograd. 28 Feb 1917: A defeat? 8 old destroyers sunk a battleship and a light cruiser. Give them some medals.
