Prussia - HOI4 - Moment of Glory
11 Jul 1913 - The defenders have been pushed across the Meuse river - now it's our turn to cross it. After that nothing but open countryside.
Liege is occupied by that large army at the moment but all the other cities are available for taking. I aim for Gent with following forces taking a right turn when the moment is right.
12 Jul 1913: The left 'shoulder' is secure so the bulk of my Army Group 1 can race westwards.
15 Jul 1913: We had to give up Reims but our race 'to the sea' paid off. We have Lille in northern France and the gates at Gent are wide open. 9th Army is about to overwhelm Brussels and Namur is threatened by 2nd Army.
17 Jul 1913: Belgium capitulates. That didn't take long did it. Now we have to maintain the momentum.
17 Jul 1913: We didn't capture much equipment - I guess most of it has been expended. We still have to mop up the non-Belgium troops in Liege but the remainder of our forces can storm southwards.
19 Jul 1913: I want to encircle as many forces in the north as possible. Ideally we need a 2nd breakthrough at Nancy. It looks weaker then the rest of their line. I also need to stay engaged with enemy forces west of Nancy so that they can't retreat.
We've secured the coast and already have the Channel ports.
The red-blue bar is definitely favouring us and France is 13% towards capitulation.
The Italians are not looking good. That's good news.
No problems in Montenegro either.
What we need is a thrust towards Paris with a second advance along the coast.
20 Jul 1913: The focus Paramilitarism has arrived.
Then I select Trench Warfare Focus next. That could be useful.
I need to punch a couple of holes in their defences and advance on Paris from two directions.
21 Jul 1913: The King wants to continue the fight. Can someone inform him that his army has already capitulated? I send one division towards Rouen and Le Havre to grab a few victory points then press on.
22 Jul 1913: The British have lost another merchant.
24 Jul 1913: Aiming for Paris and Reims.
28 Jul 1913: So Paris should fall within the week. My left-turn is developing well too but further south than planned.
01 Aug 1913: The British have lost another merchant.
07 Aug 1913: Paris is still holding on but it is almost encircled. Reims hasn't fallen either. I wish we had held Reims...
08 Aug 1913: 1st Army is useless down there. Maybe I should move it nearer to Nancy. Paris hasn't fallen yet either. We've lost momentum.
10 Aug 1913: The tech Entrenching Battalions has arrived.
I select Rifleman Primacy next. I want the mobile option.
I was so surprised I forgot to take a screenshot. I have the choice between continuing the fight or to accept a White Peace. I've accepted the latter because although we are winning how can we WIN this war? France is on its way to defeat but how do we cross the English Channel to defeat the UK? How do sail around the world to defeat Japan???? We can't but we have defeated Russia and have gained Poland and the Baltic States. We have defeated Belgium and Serbia. Let's quit while we are ahead because I'm sure we'll get a piece of France too.
Italy and France are under pressure so let's take advantage of it.
